Meaningful Planet appoints Nicola Stones as Non-Executive Director

Meaningful Planet has appointed Nicola Stones as a Non-Executive Director, strengthening the board as the business enters its next stage of growth.

Nicola brings 20 years’ marketing experience across start-ups, venture-backed businesses and global enterprises, including KPMG. Over the past decade, she has specialised in fast-growth B2B technology businesses, building marketing functions and teams through significant periods of growth.

She was previously VP of Marketing at CleanHub, an environmental technology company tackling plastic pollution, and is now VP of Marketing at Ben, the AI-native employee benefits platform, which recently raised $27.5 million in Series B funding.

Nicola already knows Meaningful Planet well. For the past two years, she has worked closely with co-founders Nick Falkowski and Richard West as a go-to-market advisor, developing a detailed understanding of the business, its ambitions and the market it is working to change.

Her appointment formalises that relationship and brings her experience of building and scaling technology businesses into Meaningful Planet’s board.

Business mobile is a large and established market, but one that has seen surprisingly little change in the way services are delivered and managed. Meaningful Planet is challenging that model with an intelligent telecoms platform designed to give organisations greater control over their mobile estates, reduce unnecessary cost and complexity, and make business telecoms simpler and more transparent.

As the company grows, building the right brand, go-to-market strategy and commercial capability will be just as important as continuing to develop the product and service.

Nicola’s experience working with fast-growth businesses through different stages of scale will provide an important external perspective as Meaningful Planet develops its market position and prepares for its next phase.

Nicola said:

“Advising Nick and Richard has meant watching, up close, their shared drive to shake up an industry that’s been stagnant and inefficient for years.

“I’ve been to two of the projects Meaningful Planet supports in Cambridgeshire and on the Isle of Wight and seen the impact for myself. What has always stood out to me is that nature restoration is part of the commercial model itself. As the business grows, so does the support going into projects across the UK in places that we all know and love.

“Meaningful Planet is a genuine challenger, going after a market that’s mostly stuck with the same tired incumbents, and doing it in a way that has a real, positive impact on the world.

“I’m looking forward to being a sounding board for Nick and Richard as they take it further.”

Nicola’s appointment also brings together two areas that are central to Meaningful Planet’s growth: experience scaling technology businesses and an understanding of how commercial growth and positive environmental impact can work alongside one another.

Meaningful Planet supports nature restoration projects across the UK as part of its business model, with the level of support increasing as the company grows.

Having advised the founders for the past two years, Nicola joins the board with an existing understanding of both the opportunity ahead and the kind of company Meaningful Planet is seeking to build.
